Full-Cage Remote Hooks: More Options for External Load Operations
Friday, April 15, 2011
You asked for it, and we listened! Onboard is pleased to offer full-cage versions of our popular 3,000 LB and 6,000 LB TALON® Remote Hooks. The cage extends below the load beam and offers greater protection for missions in rugged terrain, while still providing a large access area in the front for loading.
But we didn't stop there! We added a brush guard and a hook lock indicator to all of our half-cage and full-cage 3K & 6K remote hooks for even greater safety. If you are interested in retrofitting your existing 3K or 6K TALON Remote hook to include this new safety feature, ask us about it when you send in your hook for overhaul, or for your next 2-year Forest Service Inspection at our FAA Certified Repair Station.
All TALON Remote Hooks include:
Robust Hook & Cage Combination — The cargo hook and protective cage are combined into one integrated unit that is robust, reliable and low maintenance.
Durable, High-Visibility Powder Coat Frame — Ensures years of duty in the field. Lasts significantly longer than paint finishes.
Easily Drops Light Loads — Our hooks will smoothly drop loads as light as 10 ounces, eliminating light load hang-up on the load beam. Pilots report they don't have to waste time over the drop point trying to get the choker to fall from the hook.
Large Throats for Easy Loading — Large throat easily accommodates all types of rings, chokers and ropes, even frozen rope chokers!
Improved Aerodynamics — Numerous flight tests have optimized the flight characteristics of our long line hooks, which are designed to fly straighter and with less sway while loaded and unloaded.
Minimized Electrical Line Loss — Ability to release rated loads down to 16 VDC decreases electrical line-loss problems.
Low Maintenance Cost — Standard time between overhauls is five years or 1,000 operating hours.
