The TALON 1K carousel hook has been designed with a double interlocking lever that must be pinched together to pull open to minimize accidental releases caused by brush. But it's easy for the ground crew to open — even with gloves!

If you're planning to attend the Heli-Expo show in Anaheim, California on February 25-27, 2014, be sure to stop by the Onboard Systems booth (#2502) to look over our new SPIDER® Smart Carousel, featuring our new TALON® 1K Carousel Hooks with lights!

We've received many requests from operators who prefer to operate carousels with lighted hooks so that the pilot can quickly see how many hooks are still loaded, and in what positions. The SPIDER Smart Carousel features an all-new controller box that can be set to count in descending order (by default) or ascending order, as well as to release all loads at once. Loads can also be released from the carousel hooks by ground crews.

"We've completely redesigned the manual release lever on the TALON 1K carousel hooks to minimize the possibility of accidental releases caused by contact with tree branches, sticks, or brush," said Karsten Lemmon, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Onboard Systems. "The lever has also been moved to the front of the hook to make it easy for ground crews to access when mounted in a carousel."

In addition, the TALON 1K carousel hook has a hook-lock indicator window, making it easy for the ground crew to verify that the load beam is locked. Finally, the hook will also be available without the light, for use in other carousel systems.

As with our TALON 2K carousel hook, the 1K is sturdy, robust, and built to provide years of trouble-free service. It has all of the technological advantages you've come to expect from Onboard Systems built right in — including a keeperless hook design that safely handles a wide variety of load ring sizes and styles while eliminating the possibility of losing a load that inadvertently gets past the keeper.
