Onboard Systems has received FAA certification for its new sling cargo hook kit for the Eurocopter EC130 aircraft. This new system is expected to be available for shipment later this summer. Onboard has also submitted this kit to Transport Canada and EASA for certification in Canada and Europe, respectively.

Sling Suspension Advantages
Our sling kit is designed to mount to the single hard point on the belly of the aircraft and offers multiple improvements over the existing OEM sling system. It comes with our TALON™ LC Hydraulic Hook, which greatly increases load security by using a hydraulically activated release mechanism instead of a traditional manual release cable. It also includes an integrated Onboard Weighing System to reduce the risk of overload stress and aid pilots with loading decisions.

To further improve safety, our system also includes a built-in polymer bumper ring with travel limits and our fuel drain guard. The bumper ring keeps the hook and control cables from impacting the airframe and causing damage that could lead to an inadvertent load release.

Onboard’s innovative hydraulic hooks are designed to minimize the risk of inadvertent cargo releases caused by excessive movement during external load operations, which can activate an improperly rigged manual release cable on a cargo hook system. Hydraulic hook systems allow for simplified cable routing along the belly of the aircraft, and snagging or damage to the cable will not lead to accidentally dropping the cargo.

This kit includes options for both the fixed and removable provisions and are approved for installation on the Eurocopter EC130 B4 model helicopter.
